Adaptive rCompounding
Turn post-industrial (PIR) and post-consumer (PCR) recyclates into reliable materials tailored to your application.
Maximizing the Value of Recyclates
Recycled plastics naturally come with variations in composition and properties. The challenge is to manage these variations while achieving the performance your application requires. This is where adaptive compounding comes in.
Through our affiliate Kays, we combine over 20 years of compounding expertise with systematic material selection and tailored processing. We adapt the compound to the selected feedstock and the requirements of your application.
How Adaptive Compounding Works
- Selecting the right feedstock: Robust supplier and material selection processes help identify suitable recyclate streams and create the right feedstock mix for the application.
- Inspecting and understanding the material: Each material is tested internally and analyzed to understand its characteristics and variations. This is the basis for defining the formulation.
- Adapting formulation: Selected additives and fillers are combined with specific adapting compounding parameters and processing steps to achieve targeted properties.
- Delivering consistent quality: Controlled processes help ensure the rCompound provides the required properties and specified recycled content.
Close the Loop with Your Own Production Waste
Give your plastics a second life by turning production waste and post-consumer plastic products into valuable raw materials.
With our closed-loop recycling and compounding approach, post-industrial plastic waste from your production can be sent to Kays, where it is recovered and transformed into customized rCompounds to be used back into your application.
The same applies to consumer products that reached their end of life. Once collected from your consumers, disassembled, and sorted by polymer type, you can return engineering plastics components to Kays, where they are compounded into customized materials with properties tailored to your requirements. These materials can be used back into the same application or transformed into entirely new products.
This enables you to keep valuable plastics in circulation and turn production waste into new material for future products.

Different applications require different properties. Our technical compounds can be modified with fillers and reinforcements to create a solution that matches your specific performance requirements.
KAYCOM®
Our technical granules and blends can be modified using glass fibers, glass beads, carbon fibers or mineral fillers to achieve targeted mechanical and processing properties.
KAYTECH
The properties of these technical plastics are modified according to your application requirements by adding special additives, such as thermal stability, mechanical strength, durability, slip, weather resistance, and UV stability.
Additives can be:
- Elastomers and other additives
- PTFE
- MOS2
KAYFLAM
Technical plastics with combustion-resistant properties using halogen-free flame-retardant additives. For bromogen-containing materials, we use combustion resistant additives that comply with the RoHS directives. Certifications are possible upon request.
KAYCONDUCT
Technical plastics with permanent electrical conductivity or antistatic properties. Carbon fibers, fillers and additional additives can be incorporated to further tailor material performance.
Areas of application: PTFE and carbon fiber filled conductive material for household appliance parts.
KAYCOLOR
Color-adjustment masterbatches help compensate for the inherent color variations of recycled polymers and enable more consistent, targeted colors.
Solutions can be matched to customer specifications, industry standards or physical samples and can help:
- Compensate for inherent discoloration
- Reduce the visual impact of black specks
- Adjust color shades
- Achieve clearer and more consistent colors
