Sukano AG’s (hereinafter referred to as “Sukano”) website is subject to Swiss data privacy legislation, in particular the Federal Data Protection Act (DSG), as well as any applicable international data protection laws, such as the European Union’s (EU) General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The EU acknowledges that Switzerland’s data privacy legislation ensures an adequate level of data protection.
Access to our website is protected by transport encryption (SSL/TLS).
We greatly appreciate your interest in our company. Data protection is particularly important to us. As a rule, Sukano’s website can be used without having to enter any personal data. However, if a visitor would like to make use of any special services offered by our company via our website, certain personal data may need to be processed. If personal data needs to be processed and if there is no legal basis for such processing, we always obtain the data subject’s consent.
Sukano, as data controller, has numerous technical and organizational measures in place in order to make sure that the personal data processed via this website is as tightly protected as possible. Nevertheless, Internet-based data transfers can never be absolutely secure, so complete protection cannot be guaranteed. For this reason, each data subject is free to communicate their personal data via alternative channels, such as by telephone.

3. Collection and Storage of Personal Data as well as the Nature and Purpose of Its Use
a) On visiting the website
When you access our website www.sukano.com, the browser used by your terminal device automatically sends information to our website’s server. This information is temporarily stored in a so-called log file. In the process, the following information is captured without any action on your part and stored until it is automatically deleted:
The data listed above is processed by us for the following purposes:
The legal basis for the data processing is DSG or, if applicable, Art. 6, para. 1, sentence 1 f GDPR. Our legitimate interest arises from the abovementioned purposes for data collection. We do not under any circumstances use the collected data for the purpose of drawing conclusions about you as an individual.
b) On registering for our newsletter
If you have expressly provided your consent in accordance with DSG or, if applicable, Art. 6, para. 1, sentence 1 a GDPR, we use your e-mail address to send our regular newsletter to you. If you wish to receive our newsletter, it is sufficient to provide us with your e-mail address. You can unsubscribe at any time, for example via the link at the end of each newsletter. Alternatively, you can send your request to unsubscribe at any time by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our website uses Mailchimp to distribute newsletters. Mailchimp is provided by the Rocket Science Group LLC, 675 Ponce De Leon Ave. NE, Suite 5000, Atlanta, GA 30308, USA. Mailchimp is a service for organizing and analyzing newsletter distribution, among other activities. The data entered by you for the purposes of receiving newsletters (e.g., e-mail address) is saved on Mailchimp’s servers in the United States.
Mailchimp is certified in accordance with both the “Swiss-US Privacy Shield” and the “EU-US Privacy Shield.” The “Privacy Shield” is an agreement between Switzerland/the European Union (EU) and the United States and serves to ensure compliance with Swiss and European data protection standards in the United States.
Mailchimp helps us analyze our newsletter campaigns. If you open an e-mail sent via Mailchimp, a file contained in the e-mail (a so-called web beacon) connects to Mailchimp’s servers in the United States. This serves to determine whether a newsletter message was opened and what links were clicked on, if any. Technical information (e.g., time of access, IP address, browser type and operating system) is also collected. This information cannot be linked to any specific newsletter recipient. It is only required for carrying out a statistical analysis of newsletter campaigns. The results of these analyses can be used to better customize future newsletters to the recipients’ interests.
If you do not want Mailchimp to perform any analyses, you need to unsubscribe from the newsletter. We provide an unsubscribe link in every newsletter message for this purpose. Furthermore, you can also unsubscribe from the newsletter directly on our website.
Your data will only be processed with your consent (DSG or, if applicable, Art. 6, para. 1 a GDPR). You can withdraw your consent with future effect at any time by unsubscribing from the newsletter. The lawfulness of any data processing already carried out shall not be affected by this withdrawal of consent.
The data you provide us with for the purpose of sending you newsletters is saved by us until such time as you unsubscribe from our newsletter. After you do so, it will be deleted both from our and from Mailchimp’s servers. Data saved by us for other purposes shall not be affected by this.
We have concluded a data processing agreement with Mailchimp, in which Mailchimp undertakes to protect our customers’ data and not to forward it to any third parties. This agreement can be viewed at the following link: https://mailchimp.com/legal/forms/data-processing-agreement/sample-agreement/.
c) When using our contact form
If you have any questions, you have the option to contact us by means of a form that is available on the website. We require a valid e-mail address to establish who is making the inquiry and to enable us to respond. Any further information is optional.
Data processing for the purpose of establishing contact with us in accordance with DSG or, if applicable, Art. 6, para. 1, sentence 1 a GDPR is based on your consent, which you have given voluntarily.
The personal data collected by us for the utilization of the contact form is automatically deleted after your query has been resolved.
4. Disclosure of Data
Your personal data is not disclosed to third parties for any purposes other than those listed below. We only disclose your personal data to third parties if:
Information that arises in each case in connection with the specific terminal device being used is stored in the cookie. This does not, however, mean that we automatically receive information about your identity.
We also use temporary cookies, which are stored on your terminal device for a specific determined period of time to optimize user-friendliness. If you revisit our website to use our services, it will automatically be recognized that you have already visited us, which entries you have made and which settings you have selected, so you are not required to enter these again.
On the other hand, we have used cookies to collect statistics relating to the use of our website and to evaluate this for the purpose of optimizing our website for you (see Cl. 5). When you revisit the site, these cookies enable us to automatically recognize that you have already visited us. These cookies are automatically deleted after a period of time that is specified in each case.
The data processed by means of cookies is required for the specified purposes and for the protection of our legitimate interests as well as of those of third parties in accordance with DSG or, if applicable, Art. 6, para. 1, sentence 1 f GDPR.
Most browsers automatically accept cookies. You can, however, configure your browser in such a way that cookies are not stored on your computer or so that a notice will appear each time before a new cookie is set. The complete deactivation of cookies can, however, result in a reduced functionality of our website, and you may not be able to use all the features of our website.
6. Analytical Tools
The analytical and tracking measures listed below and used by us are taken on the basis of DSG or, if applicable, Art. 6, para. 1, sentence 1 f GDPR. We intend to ensure the appropriate presentation and continued optimization of our website with the tracking measures that are being applied. On the other hand, we have applied tracking measures to capture statistics relating to the use of our website and to evaluate such use for the purpose of optimizing our website for you. These are considered to be legitimate interests within the meaning of the abovementioned provisions. The respective purposes of data processing and data categories are described in the entries for the corresponding tracking tools.
a) Google Analytics
For the purpose of the appropriate presentation and continued optimization of our web pages, we use Google Analytics, a web analysis service provided by Google Inc. (https://www.google.com/intl/en/about/) (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA; hereinafter “Google”). In this context, pseudonymized user profiles are created and cookies (see Cl. 4) are used. The information gained by cookies about how you use this website, such as
is transmitted to a Google server in the USA, where it is stored. The information is used to evaluate your utilization of the website, compile reports on website activities and provide additional services related to website and Internet usage for the purposes of market research and appropriate presentation of these web pages. Where appropriate, this information will also be transmitted to third parties, if this is legally required or insofar as third parties process this data on our behalf. Your IP address will not, under any circumstances, be combined by Google with other data. The IP addresses are anonymized so that they cannot be assigned (IP masking). You can prevent the installation of cookies by changing the appropriate settings in your browser software; please note that if you do so, you may not be able to make full use of all of this website’s functions.
You can also prevent the capture of the data related to your use of the website generated by the cookie (including your IP address), as well as the processing of this data by Google, by downloading and installing a browser add-on: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en/.
As an alternative to the browser add-on, in particular with browsers on mobile terminal devices, you can also prevent the capture by Google Analytics by clicking on this link. This sets an opt-out cookie, which prevents the future capture of your data when you visit this website. The opt-out cookie only applies to this browser and only to our website, and it is placed on your device. If you delete the cookies in this browser, you must set the opt-out cookie again.
Further information on data protection in connection with Google Analytics is available in Google Analytics Help (https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245?hl=en/).
b) Google Maps
Our website uses the Google Maps service via an API (application programming interface). Google Maps is provided by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.
In order for you to be able to use Google Maps, your IP address has to be saved. This information is normally transferred to a Google server in the United States, where it is stored. The owner of this website has no influence on this data transfer.
We use Google Maps to ensure an attractive presentation of our online services and to make it easy for you to find the places indicated on our website. This is a legitimate interest within the meaning of DSG or, if applicable, Art. 6, para. 1 f GDPR.
Further information on data protection in connection with Google can be found at the following link: https://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy/.
c) Google Adwords Conversion Tracking
To capture statistics relating to the use of our website and to optimize our website for your use, we also use Google Conversion Tracking. For this purpose, Google Adwords places a cookie (see Clause 4) on your computer, provided you have reached our website via a Google ad.
These cookies expire after 30 days and are not intended to identify you as an individual. If the user visits certain pages of the website of the Adwords client and the cookie has not yet expired, Google and the client can see that the user has clicked on the ad and was directed to this site.
Each Adwords client receives a different cookie. Cookies can therefore not be tracked via the websites of Adwords clients. The information gathered by means of the conversion cookies is used to prepare conversion statistics for Adwords clients who have opted to use conversion tracking. The Adwords clients find out the overall number of users who have clicked on their ad and were directed to a web page containing a conversion tracking tag. They do not, however, receive any information that would enable them to identify users as individuals.
If you do not wish to participate in the tracking procedure, you can object to the setting of cookies – for example, via the browser settings, which generally deactivate the automatic setting of cookies. Alternatively, you can deactivate cookies for conversion tracking by setting your browser so that cookies from the domain “www.googleadservices.com” are blocked. Google’s privacy notice on conversion tracking is available here: https://services.google.com/sitestats/en.html/.
7. Social Media Plugins
On the basis of DSG or, if applicable, Art. 6, para. 1, sentence 1 f GDPR, we use social plugins from the social networks Xing and LinkedIn on our website to raise awareness of our company via these networks. The underlying commercial purpose is to be deemed a legitimate interest within the meaning of GDPR. The respective provider is responsible for ensuring compliance with data protection legislation. To provide maximum protection to the users of our website, we integrate these plugins by means of the so-called two-click method.
We use components of the XING.com network. These components are a service from XING AG, Dammtorstrasse 29–32, 20354 Hamburg, Germany.
Every time one of our web pages containing such a component is called up, this component triggers the downloading of a corresponding presentation of the component from XING by the browser you are using.
As far as we are aware, XING does not store any of the user’s personal data via the retrieval of our website. Likewise, XING does not store any IP addresses. Further, in connection with the “XING share button,” user behavior is not evaluated by means of cookies. Further information about this can be found in the privacy notices relating to the XING share button at: https://www.xing.com/app/share?op=data_protection/.
Our website uses so-called social plugins (“plugins”) from YouTube. YouTube is an online video portal that makes it possible for video publishers to upload video clips for free and for other users to watch them for free, to rate them and to leave comments. YouTube allows users to publish any type of clip, which means that users can watch entire films and TV programs as well as music videos, trailers or videos created by users themselves via the online portal.
YouTube is provided YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA. YouTube, LLC is a subsidiary of Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043-1351, USA.
By accessing any of the individual pages on this website operated by the data controller and into which a YouTube component (YouTube video) has been integrated, the respective YouTube component automatically prompts the Internet browser on the data subject’s IT system to download a version of the respective YouTube component from YouTube. Further information about YouTube can be found at https://www.youtube.com/yt/about/. This technical process makes it possible for YouTube and Google to find out which specific subpage of our website is being visited by the data subject.
If that data subject is logged in to YouTube at the same time, YouTube knows which of our website’s subpages containing a YouTube video is being visited by the data subject. This information is collected by YouTube and Google and associated with the YouTube account of the data subject.
Via the YouTube component, YouTube and Google are always informed when the data subject visits our website if the data subject is logged in to YouTube at the same time as they access our website, regardless of whether the data subject clicks on a YouTube video or not. If the data subject does not want that information to be transferred to YouTube and Google, they can prevent this transfer by logging out of their YouTube account prior to accessing our website.
8. Rights of Data Subjects
You have the right:
9. Right to Object
If your personal data is processed on the basis of legitimate interests in accordance with DSG or, if applicable, Art. 6, para. 1, sentence 1 f GDPR, you have the right in accordance with DSG or, if applicable, Art. 21 GDPR to object to the processing of your personal data, where there are grounds relating to your particular situation or you are objecting in relation to direct marketing purposes. If the latter is the case, you have a general right to object, which shall be actioned by us without a particular situation being stated. If you wish to exercise your right to withdraw consent or your right to object, simply send an e-mail to email@example.com.
10. Data Security
We use the common SSL procedure (Secure Sockets Layer) within our website in conjunction with the respective highest level of encryption that is supported by your browser. You can recognize whether an individual page within our website is transmitted in encrypted form by the depiction of a key or closed lock symbol in the lower status bar of your browser. We also use appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your data against accidental or intentional tampering, partial or total loss, destruction or unauthorized access by third parties. Our security measures are continuously improved in line with technological developments.
The current exceptional situation in regard to the coronavirus (2019-nCoV) demands action and solidarity all over the world. The safety of our employees, customers, and society at large is of the highest priority to Sukano. While fulfilling the needs of our customers continues to be the focus of our activities, we are doing so with the respective sense of urgency and practices the current situation demands.
